iPSC-based research in Zurich

Induced pluripotent stem cell-based research in Zurich

A guide for navigating iPSC-based research activities in Zurich

This website provides an overview of iPSC-based work performed in Zurich and links to seminars, lecture series and other local news related to this dynamic field.

Platform for Life Sciences Community in Zurich

Since the discovery by Yamanaka and Takahashi of induced plutipotent stem cells (iPSC), this technology has opened unprecedented possibilities to study virtually any cell type of interest in vitro and to model human diseases "in a dish". The Life Sciences Community in Zurich is actively taking advantage of these new possibilities.

The aim of this platform is to foster interactions, collaborations and education on this technology among researchers working on iPSCs in the Zurich area. Groups affiliated with all academic institutions are invited to showcase their iPSC-related research, including the University of Zurich, the ETH Zurich and the University Hospitals (USZ, Kinderspital, PUK, Balgrist, Zentrum für Zahnmedizin). All topics of research can be included, ranging from basic research questions on pluripotency of stem cells to disease modeling or regenerative medicine.  Disorders affecting any organ system can be included (central nervous system, heart, kidney, muscles, the immune system,  the eye or metabolic diseases).
